03 Wed. 2:00 p.m. Cynthia Salzhauer ...Stovall resident and big game hunter presented “Tales of a Hunting Grandma” She, told of her many big game hunting adventures.
11 Thurs 4:00 p.m. John Shelton Reed, Ph.D.
...UNC Professor reviewed NC barbecue history, traditions and recipes from their book Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue.
17 Wed. 4:00 p.m. Senora Lynch ...Native American Potter, presented “Living Traditions”. This program was for children and adults to learn about the many facets of Native American pottery, its symbolic designs, traditions, stories and a way of life.

18 Thurs 7:00 p.m. Charles "Terry" Zug ... Ph.D. UNC Professor, presented a slide show about “Down Home North Carolina Architecture”. Dr. Zugg has studied North Carolina’s rich heritage of architecture and folk art for twenty-five years.

20 Sat. 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. W. Jack Hranicky ...Renowned archaeologist, discussed “Artifacts in the Piedmont”. Native American artifact collectors also be displayed their collections. Visitors were encouraged to bring in their artifacts to be discussed, appraised and explored.

24 Wed. 4:00 p.m.
Terrance
Zepke ...Author. Costumed storytelling by the author of
Ghosts of
the NC Coasts & other books. All ages enjoyed stories about NC
ghosts and legends in this special family program. Book sales and signing
followed the program.

25 Thurs 7:00 p.m.
Bragg Cox
...NC
native / lifetime collector & past President of NC Pottery Center in
Seagrove discussed “North Carolina Pottery: 1780 to the Present” .
Among several topics, Cox talked about the early "redware" made by Salem
Moravians to the transition from utilitarian forms to art pottery .
Mr. Cox displayed
some of his collection and appraised early pottery that our visitors brought to the
event.

tales and stories of pirates, the Carolina Coast and seashore for children
and adults.

Wed Alan Feduccia, Ph.D., a UNC Professor, gave a power point presentation about Machpelah: Colonial Piedmont
Plantation; Old Granville Couinty. Dr Feduccia and his wife
currently live at Machpelah.

Thur Gerhard L. Weinberg, Ph.D. ,
a Retired UNC
Keenan Professor and internationally known authority on World War II; gave a
program on The United States and World War II

22 Wed Bryan Carey, Director of Shaw School and Studio in Durham N.C. - gave a hands-on workshop using N.C. resident- Ruth Faison Shaw's finger-painting technique as described in Our State Magazine, March 2007.
22 Wed Bob Zeller: Author/Civil
War Historian. Lincoln in 3D. We celebrated the bicentennial
anniversary of Lincoln's birth with his three-dimensional digital journey
through Lincoln's presidency. Mr. Zeller used original
stereoscopic photos and provide 3d glasses.

25 Sat Billy Yeargin - Historian, Lecturer, & Teacher. Mr. Yeargin presented “ Robert E. Lee - The Postwar Years: A Study in Virtue (1865 - 1870)” . Visitors learned about Lee, the educator after the Civil War.

- This first program
was a
power point program ( for children & adults) on his book ,The
Secret
Adventures of Hamster Sam
and cartooning. The second program was a special
cartooning workshop.
